Thanks guys, any help you can throw my way is very appreciated. I also ran the card on a couple other data recovery programs and saw the files I'm looking for, but I didn't want to pay to recover if at all possible.just don't really want to pay $100 for some personal photos if I can get PhotoRec to work. I saw online some advice to make an image of the disk before messing with it at all so I've already done that. I rather recently upgraded to this OS so I thought maybe there are some user permissions which I might need to re-enable or change or something. You can even upload a damaged or corrupted. Because this utility ignores the devices file structure, it can retrieve data even when the file system has been corrupted. I was following a YouTube video and his screen clearly showed the 2gb thumb drive he was recovering from so I don't see why mine is so different. PhotoRec is a free digital photo recovery tool that can restore lost images from computers, digital cameras, mobile devices, memory cards or other storage media such as CD-ROMs. Neither of those seem obviously a 1TB drive or a 32gig external drive, unless I just don't understand what I'm reading. When I run PhotoRec the options I see are the following:
The card is 32 gigs altogether, my laptop has a 1 TB hard drive.
I'm just enough not computer-literate to be struggling, but with some guiding hands I know I can do it.
